Internet Access FAQ

Q. Do I need a phone line for Alyrica Internet to work?

A. No.  Alyrica Internet is completely wireless to your home, meaning that if you have a computer, electrical power, and line of sight to one of our towers, you can use our service.

Q. What is line of sight?

A. Line of sight or LOS means that the client radio must be able to "see" the access point on the tower.  The client can not send or receive signal through objects.

Q. If the client must "see" the access point, will it be affected by fog or bad weather?

A. No.  LOS does not refer to human sight.  The client radio can see the access point in any weather just not through trees, buildings, or hills.

Q. Are there transfer limits?

A. Not for residential customers. There is no actual limit to how much you can transfer, but if you are a heavy user your account may have its priority level lowered, (requed), to keep your usage from affecting other customers. If you are on a business plan, you may be charged overusage fees.

Q. What are the penalties if you go over as a business?

A. $15.00 per gigabyte over.

Q. What is requeing?

A. Requeing is a balancing system with three levels.  Each type of account, (CIR, Business, Residential, and Residential overlimit), has its own priority level. Available internet access is shared among users on the same level, with preference being given to users who have a history of using less bandwidth.

Q. What happens if I am requed?

A. You may have trouble with bandwidth intensive applications, like watching streaming video, during the busy part of the day (10am - 730pm M-F).
